The music festival, Casa dei Mezzo, takes place, every year, in the rolling hills above the small village of Makrigialos in South East Crete. The event is taking place in the spacious and luxurious villa of Casa dei Mezzo. Because of its superb location, size and architecture, the spacious and luxurious villa Casa dei Mezzo is magically transformed into the venue of the Casa dei Mezzo Summer Concerts. Lovers of classical music will have the privilege of enjoying unique performances by world-class singers and musicians.

The 2017 Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival takes place from 22 June until 25 June. The dynamic classical programme of the 2017 festival is filled with international stars. Baroque music is the cornerstone of the diverse festival programme with some great performers.
Artists this year are the celebrated Armoniosa Baroque Ensemble and violinist Gennaro Cardaropoli from Italy, pianist Tarek Al-Shubbak from Spain, guitarist Chronis Koutsoumpides from Greece, baroque flautist Ingeborg Christophersen and mezzo-soprano Hege Høisæter from Norway and baritone Hubert Wild from Germany.
Three local choirs will perform at a special open Harbour concert, sponsored and organised by the Municipality of Ierapetra on 22 June this year. With the support from the Municipality of Sitia the festival will be returning to Villa de Mezzo in Etia (20 min drive from Makrigialos towards Sitia) for a lunchtime concert and in such intimate venue will most certainly make for extraordinary and unique concert experiences.
The Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival is an important cultural contribution to the Summer season in Makrigialos and it is the only classical chamber music on the island of Crete. The musicians of the Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival are all performers of the very highest calibre and assembling such a fine group of musicians is possible only with significant support for the festival by sponsorships.
